Respiratory therapy is a field treatment that helps to ensure that an individual breathes well and maximizes respiratory function and breathing more efficiently and comfortably as usual. Respiratory therapy requires that one has a practicing license before offering services to the patient or any consultation to an individual. This law ensures that people’s health is protected from crooks in society who are after money. The regulation of respiratory therapy practitioners is clear and does not deny any licensed person from practicing the therapy on the provision of the license. Further statute and law dictate that an individual under the training program in respiratory therapy will be allowed to practice the therapy only when under a licensed health practitioner (Castner and Boris, 2020). No one is allowed to use any title or abbreviation if not licensed by the respiratory therapy board in any way. Respiratory therapy is a very sensitive program in terms of human health and can easily cause death if no care is taken. Therefore, it is essential to take essential steps to ensure that healthcare workers are licensed and trained to offer quality services.

Different qualifications are set to ensure one is licensed. Good moral and character is the first qualification. One also has to undergo a therapy training program conducted by the board. The individuals that qualify for the training must be a holder of a certificate in respiratory therapy. Upon completion of the program, the examination board approves the certification and gives a license to the individual. The certification cannot be used globally; different regions have a different certificate and qualification strategies, so an exam has to be conducted and a license issued.

The law has set strict rules in the practice of respiratory therapy. All practitioners are required to follow all the instructions to the letter. Any failure to adhere to the rule and regulations leads to strict discipline and revoking the license for good (Stoller and  Heuer, 2019). It is essential to follow the directives given to ensure a smooth journey through the career journey. The procedure to acquire a practicing license requires one to apply for the license and sit for an examination. Upon completion, a license is issued, which is subject to renewal. After this, an intern period is allocated during which one can practice the therapy but only under the supervision of a superior therapist. It is important to note that many medical-related boards have the authority to issue a respiratory therapy license to any medical student continuing with their studies.

The American Association for respiratory care is a leading board both nationally and internationally regarding respiratory therapy and health. The American board is known to advocate for excellence and professionalism in service delivery. The board also acts as the advocate for the patients and their families and the licensed respiratory therapist. This board allows the licensed therapist to use any self-implemented protocol as long as it works well to save the life of the patients. Any initiation or modification of a set protocol should first be subject to analysis by a physician (Chartrand, 2021). Any modification done should come unique to every patient. The reason for having therapist modified protocols is due to issues that occur in health care facilities, which include; work overload, having treatment indicators, and reduction of unnecessary care. Different protocols should be evidence-based to ensure that the patient does not suffer more but rather his safety is guaranteed. Respiratory Therapy Laws essay sample

Health care facilities and emergency stations should have a written down protocol to show how different procedures should be carried out and who should carry out the protocol. It is important to have accountability procedures in case anything goes wrong. The medical director should ensure that all systems are documented as well. The relevant governing authorities should approve all set protocols and established procedures. Offering quality services is the crucial goal of any respiratory therapy board. Health care workers and other licensed members should ensure they practice diligently to avoid revoking their licenses.

The respiratory therapy board shall not license an individual based on experience in another law. For instance, someone working as an assistant to a therapist or has long working experience in a health facility. Limited permits can also be issued to practitioners who are eligible but can only work under the supervision of a superior therapist. For each license, a process and application fee is attached to it. A full license has a different price from a limited permit (Aljoni, 2021). Asset by the government and the respiratory therapy board, this law is meant to ensure the health and life of the patient is protected and handled with care. A license is a permit that can control the behavior of an individual. Another different law states that a special license provision may be issued. The special provision is made because one has to complete the application within one year and pay the necessary fees required. The special provision is only issued to medical professionals who urgently need a license, and the board determines if one is eligible for the special permit. Respiratory Therapy Laws essay sample
