McDonald Sample Essay Paper.
In 2015, McDonald’s suffered from a weak first quarter and they decided to go through a management restructuring strategy. Decision-making at McDonald’s seemed to be bogged down by corporate bureaucracy, which means, decisions that needed to be made were on the back end not being met and the decisions could be met if corporate did not have to approve every little thing. This restructuring phase will offer more franchises to operate independently also it will open more franchises. Also, it will lax the decision-making process. Also, to improve in sales, McDonald’s is experimenting with a delivery service called, “McDelivery”, and is experimenting running breakfast 24-hours. This article ties into Organization Development and Change chapter 12: Restructuring Organizations, because the of what McDonald’s is doing. McDonald’s is restructuring part of their functional structure to help the organization become more modern. Two things I feel McDonald’s was having a hard time with is actually two of the disadvantagesthat the functional structure face which is: difficulty developing general management capability and fosters narrow perspectives by managers, not business metrics and broader criteria for decision-making. That is why they are stripping away with corporate bureaucracy.
