Part 2: Rationale

Interaction is an engagement strategy that promotes respectful relationships and collaboration. According to Taylor & Parsons (2011), interactions make students be intensively social and collaborating learners. Through interaction, teachers identify how students learn and take into account what learners understand or misunderstand. Thereafter, the teachers use the identified information as a starting place to monitor students’ education.

Exploration allows engagement of learners that is based on inquiries, problems, and fact-finding. Consequently, Taylor & Parsons noted that exploration-based engagement makes learners seek the opportunities to research and find solutions for themselves. The engagement strategies help students identify how to employ a digital world in their learning.

Relevancy is another common requirement for engaging students. The strategies have made students ask for learning that applies to actual life settings as opposed to being text-based and theoretical. Wyre (2013) noted that relevancy contributes to more creativity making students find a renewed sense of engagement in learning. 

Multimedia and Technology make it possible to move beyond the classroom to talk with and learn from professionals in the field. According to Taylor & Parsons (2011), technology brings students relevant and accessible specialists and subject materials and their tools for engaged education. Further research shows that the more broadly multimedia and technology are applied by instructors the higher the chances of a student to commit to learning and performance (Maloshonok, 2016).

The authentic assessment allows examination tasks similar to writing and reading in school and the real world. The engagement strategy aims at assessing several kinds of literacy abilities in settings that nearly resemble real contexts in which those capabilities could be applied. Taylor & Parsons (2011) noted that incorporating authentic assessment as an engagement strategy enables students to set goals and assess their learning.
